Most Magical place in the world!

We took the girls to Disneyland this past week….and, I gotta tell you, it really is the happiest, most magical place on earth!

I started the vacation by picking up the girls from Tutor Time and surprising them with their own princess backpack filled with books, coloring books, crayons, toys, and snacks for the car ride.  We met Daddy at the Brown’s house and we all rode out to California Tuesday night (after an engine light on and a little carsickness by Lauren, we were on our way). The Locke Family was already in California waiting for us.

Wednesday morning, we spent the entire day in Disneyland.  We checked out a few areas of the park and went on a bunch of rides. Lauren braved a bunch of big rides, like Star Tours, Space Mountain and the Matterhorn.  Her favorites were the Teacups and Small World, though.

We got to bed early on Wednesday night. And, Thursday morning we got to the park early for our breakfast with the princesses.  The girls were in heaven!! They got autographs and pictures taken with each princess!

The rest of the day was spent in California Adventure.  The grown-ups got to ride the rollercoaster a few times and then took the kids through to ride the rides. Lauren’s favorite ride in California Adventure was Goofy’s Sky School (I thought that one was a little scary…but she LOVED it!). Molly loved going to the Bug’s Life park and going on some rides there (she’s frowning in her pictures, but smiling on the inside).

That night we got a babysitter for the babies and we spent some time with Jaclyn, Josh and the big girls at the parks.  It was so much fun going on all of the rides with the big kids! My favorite ride was probably Tower of Terror (holy crap…..that’s scary!!). We even got Jaclyn to go on a few scary rides with us….even through the ride-induced nausea, she was a trooper!

The babysitter then stayed with the big kids so the adults could have a quiet dinner together.  Well, it was anything but quiet.  Just a lot of fun with fantastic friends!

Friday was our final day in the parks. We started the day on the Grizzly River Run and getting wet. We spent some time at California Adventure again (Sara and I went on Tower of Terror…..I think she liked it as much as I did). After naps, we went back to Disneyland (thank goodness for the amazing shuttle back-and-forth to the park) and fought the crowds. We weren’t really sure what we even wanted to do. And, we were getting closer and closer to being DONE, when we ended up in the perfect place to watch the fireworks, Fantasmic and the snowfall.  It was fate! We were meant to be where we ended up! After the show, Josh, Tatum and I decided to ride Splash Mountain (it was cold…so nobody else was thinking the same thing…we got right on). We ended the day the same way we started……wet!

We all headed back home on Saturday after an amazing, exhausting, memorable and magical trip!

(I have about 350 pictures that I squeezed down to 60….check them out on the link below)

Thankful for…..

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for so many things.  Our family, our health, our friends, our jobs, our time spent together, and everything else in between.

We spent time with some great friends this Thanksgiving.  Sarah, Andy, and Shane have been close friends of ours since we moved to Phoenix.  And, we are lucky to have them!

Shane cooked a great turkey and sides for us and we enjoyed the great company around a fire pit.  Thanksgiving in AZ is pretty awesome……can’t beat the weather.

Since I was a little girl, the tradition of putting up decorations the day after Thanksgiving still stands.

The sad Charlie Brown-ish Christmas tree.  It is the tree I bought when Dennis and I first moved in together, almost 10 years ago.  It looks pretty pathetic until it’s got presents under it.  I may have to get a new one next year…….the branches are falling apart.
