Just hanging around

So, we’ve been in our house for a little over 3 months now and we are still in the process of unpacking and decorating.  On top of us both working full time, the girls and their activities, and just the fact that I’m huge and utterly exhausted, we also had a 2 week construction project done on our kitchen.  Our 7 foot kitchen ceiling was raised to match the vaulted ceiling of the family room.  It looks amazing!

So, with everything that has been going on, I’ve felt like the house hasn’t been up to par for pictures quite yet.  But, I didn’t want to miss opportunities to take pictures of the girls just hanging around and enjoying the new house.

Fall Family Fun

Last Sunday, we took a road trip with the Brown family to Wilcox, Arizona to visit Apple Annie’s orchards and pumpkin patch.  None of us had ever been before and figured it would be a great reason to get out of town for a day.  Aside from the time in the car, the girls loved it.

I remember going to apple orchards as a kid. Being able to pick our own apples was such a great memory for me. So, I wanted my girls to be able to experience it too.  They loved being able to pick and sample the different kinds of apples.  And, after the apple orchard, we went to the pumpkin patch, where we took the girls through a corn maze, went on a hay ride, and picked and cut our own pumpkins from the vines.  The girls also played in a giant sandbox made of corn kernels instead of sand.  I still found kernels of corn in Molly’s diaper.  But, it was way less messy than sand!

Molly's first haircut

I had to take Lauren to get her haircut recently. And, of course, her little sister wanted to follow suit and get one too. I was a little apprehensive about it since, as we all know, Molly doesn't have much hair on that cute little melon of hers. But, she's quite the negotiator. So, I let her get a very minor trim. After watching Lauren getting her lovely locks chopped off, she sat in the chair like a big girl and got about 4 millimeters of whispy hairs cut. The icing on the cake was getting a prize with her sister when they were all done.

Grandma Malone

Dennis’ mom, Dorene Malone passed away on August 14.  She was a wonderful woman who loved her children and grandchildren very much.  She will be missed.

Kindergarten

Lauren started kindergarten at Kyrene del Cielo on August 6th.  Her teacher’s name is Miss Bell and Lauren loves her.  Lauren said at the start of the school year that she wants to be an artist when she grows up.  And, so far, in Miss Bell’s class, she has gotten plenty of opportunity to use her artistic talents.  We are so proud of you Lauren!  You’ll do great!
