Malone summer vacation

We spent a week in Iowa with the Thompson side of the family in the middle of July.  It had been 3 years since we had visited my home town of Sioux City, and we were long overdue.  We spent time at some of my favorite places and with my favorite people.  We were extremely blessed to see so many of my family and family friends.  The first couple of days we spent in Sioux City at my parents house.  We had a family barbecue on Sunday night and the kids had a great time playing in the green grass, watching fireworks, and catching fireflies.  They were able to meet quite a few members of our family and some close family friends.

It’s all fun and games until it’s time to go to bed!

The next morning we got up and headed to Lake Okoboji.  I used to vacation on this lake as a little girl, so it was so much fun taking my kids to the same places and doing the same fun things as I used to do as a child.

Hanging out in the cabin. It was only in the 60’s when we got there, so not a whole lot of playing outside was happening that day.

We were even lucky enough to meet this BEAutiful baby girl!  This is Bea!

She’s the daughter of one of my very best friends, Nikki. Nikki and Nick were in town the same time we were, so we spent time with them on Monday night.  We had so much fun and it makes me realize just how much I miss them!

We also got to spend time with my cousin Melissa and her adorable son, Myles.  We took the kiddos to Arnolds Park and went boating with Lori and Dale, my amazing aunt and uncle.

Lauren’s favorite rides were the rollercoaster (which she was one inch too short to ride, but they let her on anyway), the mini rollercoaster, the log ride, the Spider, and Pirates Revenge.  Molly’s least favorite ride was the Tipsy House.  She DOES NOT like to be tipsy!!

After Arnolds Park, Dale and Lori came to pick us up in the boat for a ride to the Barefoot Bar (super kid-friendly place to hang out).

We were also lucky enough to see my cousins, Kaitlynn and Shayli, and meet Kaitlynn’s adorable baby, Brynnli.

Sorry, Kaitlynn….but I LOVE this picture of you!!

We spent our last day at the water park and then drove back to Sioux City for the night.

We had a great time and can’t wait to do it again!

Late holidays and stuff

I know this is just a few months too late.  But, when I thought things would slow down after the holidays so I could do more things like blogging and relaxing, I was WRONG!!  In fact, I’ve just become comfortable with the fact that our family life is just going to be busy for a long time.  So, we are just enjoying the fast and furious life.

So, since I’m so on top of things (sarcastic tone used), I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures from December to the present.  Note, there are a lot of holiday pictures then from the beginning of this year.

The funniest thing about this picture is the fact that I have NO idea what Lauren was holding and thus, so excited about.

I LOVE Molly’s face when she realized that Santa left underwear in her stocking.
